WPCMS Dashboard: How to Count How Many State we Have Opportunities in (not the record count!)
I am trying to create a report to use on a dashboard to show us the count of how many states we have opportunities in.
I have tried grouping by state but it still shows the record count. I don't want that. I want to end up with a gauge that shows the number 23 out of the 51 (states and territories).
How do I go about doing this?

You have done grouping on State so record count will be definetaly showing to you. Also you must be using third axis facilty. Now come to point To view record count in dashboard just select the guage component and then add then add the source report by drag and drop. Salesforce will automatically show record count field.

I am noting understanding. I do not want the record count. So I am confused. Am I missing something?
