Clean Account name in emails

My users would like to be able to use a mailmerge field that is picking up the clean company name - i.e. without Inc, Co., etc... Is there a way to trim symbols after "." or "," or any other better ideas?

Yes and no.

 

Technically - yes.  If you create a Custom Formula(text) field, you can use the functions in there to find characters and trim text out.  You could then just use this new field as your mailmerge field.

 

Real-World - maybe.  There are such variations in company names that you may end up accidentally deleting part of a real name.

 

I say monkey around with it and see how it works for you.
