How to hide/disable the 'Add Case Comment' button when the case status is closed?

You can't hide the button, but you can take the simple steps in this blog post to prevent comments on closed cases.

You can achieve this by creating visualforce page for case.

Looks like the link to this blog post is dead, does anyone know what the solution was that was referenced? if it was simpler than a VF page and custom apex for a Case Comment Related List it would be really helpful.
