Salesforce to Salesforce and Force.com Free Edition

I cannot seem to find out if Salesforce to Salesforce is compatible with Force.com Free Edition.

 

Any ideas anyone?

yes, s2s will work for Force.com free edition customers

I had read that Contacts were required to setup connections. Free edition doesn't seem to come with Contacts.

Is this incorrect?

you know you're right - if you want to send the invite, contact is required. Are both the orgs, Free edition orgs? If the other org isn't then that org can send you the invite - you can still accept the invite and share records without contacts
