Dependent Picklist in Enhanced Lookup's

HI,

For a custom object, I have enabled enhanced look up's.

In  Lookup Filter Fields (Search layouts).

I have added 2 fields which are dependent picklists.
On UI, the dependency is working as expected, i.e. Based on value selected in Field1, Field2 values are displayed.
Until Field1 is selected, Field2 cant be selected.

But this is not working as expected in lookup filter's.
All 2 fields are showing values directly without any dependency.

How to get dependency picklists to work in Enhanced Lookup filters.

Hi Taruni,

I tried this on my ORG and got the same behavior but I believe this behavior is justified for the following reasons.

1)Since we are creating filters on a lookup, I can create a filter on either just the controlling field or dependent field or both.

In the above scenario, if I make the controlling & dependent picklist always behave in a dependent manner - I would never be able to create a filter ONLY on dependent field as its value will ALWAYS dependent on the controlling field and I will necessarily have to put both these fields together if I have to setup a filter.

2)What if someday I decide to change the dependencies between these fields - that day my Lookup filter will also have to be updated - reason being  - the filter field values might have changed as they will be affected by the dependent and controlling field values.

Hope this makes sense :)
