Is it possible to avoid insert record in standard object ??

There are two ways that I can think of

 

1. You can create a custom profile and uncheck the 'Create' object permission from that Standard Object.

2. Replace the page with Visualforce Page that does not have the 'New' button when user click on that standard object tab
