hai Friends,
i am new to chatter developement, My client requirement is enable chatter on Old SFDC account,versions like 18 or 17. can u please guide me how i can get chatter in old logins.

There is no such thing as an old Salesforce.com version. All people using Salesforce.com are generally on the same version, and so everyone using Salesforce.com is eligible for chatter. Just go to Setup | Customize | Chatter and turn it on.
It looks like you already posted to the Chatter boards (which is a better place for this question).
