Over the weekend I'm planning to carry out a large insert using DBAmp butt see that there is Salesforce Maintenance planned. Will the session get killed off or rolled back if the two overlap?
Is there anyone out there with any experience of this I would appreciate some advice.

The answer to your question depends on whether you are using the bulkapi switch with sf_bulkops. If you are then the large insert exists as a set of jobs on salesforce and will survive the maintenance window.
If you are not using the bulkapi switch, then the records sent up until DBAmp loses the connection will not be rollbacked. You can identify which records "made it" by looking for "Operation Successful" in the load table.
