Can a Custom Button go on the tab for an object type, .e.g, on .../006/o for Opportunity

The page that comes up when you click the Opportunity tab is .../006/o and has the New button.  I want to add a custom button on that page to launch a VF page.  I don't think there's a way to do that though.  I wanted to confirm that as there are so many obscure features in SF I want to make sure I didn't miss it.

Anyone know if there's a way to put a button there?

Hi,

You can create a custom link button which gets appear on list view of Opportunity.

Following are the steps to create a list button:
1. Go to Setup > Customize > Opportunity > Buttons & Links.
2. Choose New under 'Custom Buttons & Links' section.

Here you can choose the VF page to invoke through the button.

I've created List buttons and I typically put them on a page layout for a parent object in the Related List.  But, how do I put one on the main page for an object?  In this case ..../006/o

Hi,

Please follow the below steps to make the button visible on List Layout:

1. Go to Customize > Opportunity > Search Layouts.

2. Under Search Layout click edit for 'Opportunity List View' option.

3. Select your button from list of .Available Button' and move it to 'Selected Buttons'.

Hope this will solve your issue.

I suspect it can not be done.  If you go to Search Layouts and then edit Opportunities Tab, you can only add fields, not buttons.

Hey Ken,

I think you have clicked 'EDIT' against the 'Opportunity Tab' in stead of 'Opportunities List View'.

Yes, because I wanted it on the Opportunity tab.

I want it on the page you get to when you go to Opportinities.

No, It will not be visible on that page. You have to go to any of the list view to make that button visible.
