Just to add to the above points :

That is for locating the server location(mostly data center)

AP - Asia Pacific

NA - North America  ....

as you are in India AP servers will be located near you and will be convenient in terms of network hubs. You will be able to get response faster from an AP server rather than an NA server as the network response/request latency will be more for NA server.

Its not like that. AP1 does mean Asia-Pacific may be. But its not that its for India region only. AP1 is just like instance name and might by using to identify the location of Datacenters its serving from.

Hi Mandadi,

'1' in 'ap1' is just a number to separate different data centers/PODs (Point of Deployment) .

For Asia Pacific region, these PODs will be having name as ap1, ap2, ... ap 15 etc...
Why we have several PODs is because one POD can handle upto 10K customers/users.

Thanks.
