Siranjit How to make Inactive Accounts not visible for a specific profile when searched?

I have a situation here. In Accounts I have two types of accounts available (Active & Inactive). Now, for a specific profile,is it possible to make the inactive accounts not visible when searched? I have used a Advanced searched filter, when Active=True only then the active accounts are visible.

Have you tried criteria based sharing rule.
I have tried that but I am not sure whether I am correct. Could you please let me know what exactly needs to be done?

Please confirm whether user belongs to a specific profile or specific group of people.
Otherwise create group and add users within it.
First of all you have to make owd for account as private.
Create sharing rule to share only active accounts with the group of people.
Please let me know if you are able to do it or not.
I wanted it for a specific profile, if possible. However, I have created a group and added the users of that group and then used the criteria based sharing. The assigned user can view only the active account, so this works perfect ! What if there are many users, it not feasible to add all the users to the group and then try the sharing rule right? I hope you got my point.
Is there any solution to it, I mean for a specific profile?

Do you want to go for record types in that case?
Yes I can go for record types, if I can get a solution to my problem using RT
In that case create record types instead of your Active field and make changes accordingly.

We can have access to an inactive account from an opportunity. So how does this help,restricting users to view inactive account??
