Invalid cross reference id

I am trying to insert a custom object into salesforce using sforce api. It works for our Salesforce instance A but does not work for Salesforce instance B. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Information is a bit limited.

Perhaps there is a custom field in one and not the other?
Perhaps you are referencing another object (like accountID) which is valid in one and not the other?

Try downloading Developer's sidekick from the AppExchange and checking that all the fields are the same.

Gareth.

One possible cause of this error is an attempt to create a Task where the WhatId is a custom object, but that custom object does not have the Track Activities checkbox checked.
