enterprise WSDL

How come when I download the WSDL and try to use it as web reference in 1.1 app it doesnt build?
In 2.0 it works fine. I get errors in 1.1.
 
Reference.vb(319): Type 'sObject' is not defined.

There's a bug in the code that VB.NET 1.1 generates, there's a note in the docs that explains how to work around it.
