Get Metadata from PERL

How could I get the XML file with the description for a Custom object from PERL? It would be really nice to get matadata, in particular - deploymentStatus

Have you looked at the samples provided with the toolkit? They include a number of examples of using the describe calls.

Pretty sure the PHP toolkit is not much help for perl ;)
