Calling a webservice from a package

I've got a requirement for a new product that I'm building where during the installation of a managed package I need to make a call to a webservice and pass it some data.  

 

Can this be done?

No, you cannot perform any callouts or any other sort of script as part of an application install. You can have a run-once script that the installer has to execute though.
