Workflow on custom or standard objects

Does anyone have any experience adding custom or standard object workflow (rules, tasks, field updates) to an AppExchange app?  I saw from last year's posts that there was no way to include that in the package, has that changed?

Workflow and approvals are still not packageable, although this is something we are working to address.  Can you provide details on what you would like to see?
