cross object formula

hi,

can anyone tell wat r cross object formula fields and wer can i use it

Cross-Object field are field that are located on another object that shares a relationship with the object that you are on.

So for example if you're on an Opporunity the Opportunity is the child of the Account. If you needed to reference the Account.Industry field on the Opportunity record you would create a Cross-Object Formula or Workflow Rule.
