Track History of a Custom Object

Is there a way to track the history of a custom object? Similar to that of the Stage History of an Opportunity or the Case Hisory in a Case record?

Similiar, but much better!

Just go to
Setup->Customize->Create->Objects
Click on the object to add auditing to
Then click on Set History Tracking on the Custom Fields & Relationships bar.

Don't see it? That means that when the object was being created the creator said No to having History on the object, and you're going to need to create a new object and enable it.

You should be able to enable the history tracking on any custom objects without having to recreate them. If you go to Setup | App Setup | Create | Objects and then instead of clicking on the name of the object, click Edit. You should then see in the Optional Features enable Track Field History.
