Eclipse Force.com IDE issues

After successfully going through the install process, when I change to the Force.com perspective I get the following error:

'problem opening perspective 'com.salesforce.ide.perspective'

I'm running eclipse 3.3.2 on Ubuntu Linux 2.6.24. Any Ideas why I'm getting this error? (Linux, networking)

By the way I tried installing on my winXP box and it worked.

Fixed the problem. I don't know exactly what was the issue but I reinstalled eclipse and reinstalled the IDE per the instructions. Then rebooted my system after all installs were complete. It's now working.

Thanks all for your help!!!

Are you absolutely certain you installed the WST module from the Eclipse Europa Discovery Site?  Usually you can't install the Force.com IDE without it, but the Eclipse Install Manager can be quirky.

2 more possibilities...

1) do you have any previous versions of the IDE still installed by any chance?

2) there might be a conflicting log4j library that some other plugin might have installed.

could you please check on these ?

Thanks

I'm using Eclipse 3.3.1 on Windows XP, I installed the Force plugin and the Europa WST.  After restarting Eclipse, when I try to open the Force perspective I get an error: Problems opening perspective 'com.salesforce.ide.perspective'.

Any suggestions?  How can I debug this?

Hello,

I am running openSUSE 11.1 and I installed the eclipse package that openSUSE offers with their one-click-install. Eclipse installs and seems to run just fine, but when I try to add the force.com IDE plugin, the same way I always do on my windows box I receive this error:

"The installation is not configured for software updates."

Just wanted to know if someone had seen this issue before. Thank you. Any advice is appriciated.

I just installed the Force IDE and failed to open the force.com perspective. I followed the installation for Eclipse 3.4.x and restarted MyEclipse.I am using MyEclipse 7.5 Enterprise workbench.  Can you please help me?

Thank you
