push contact role id to Child Account records

So i had this idea of having someway to push a contact id from a parent account down to all the child accounts.  Has anyone ever done something like this.  I am an apex noob and just trying to find some starting ground.

I think that will be very difficult to do.  Instead, you could try using the free Affiliations package that allows you to link a contact to more than one account.  See http://wiki.developerforce.com/index.php/Nonprofit_Starter_Pack_Affiliations.  I believe you can install this on a stand-alone basis without using the non-profit template.
