How to get COLUMN present in a View

Hi can any one tell me how to select Columns for a particular view in the standard list view. I used it in standard controller to select the list and to perform my logic. I am not able to display the fields selected in the view when I set the column in the data table as fixed column. Any help will be greatly appreciated
