seach layout to restrict to accounts within ultimate parent

in a custom object which is linked to accounts, can we restrict the search to show only accounts that are part of an ultimate parent account.

You can create a lookup filter in your custom object.

 

For example try the below formula

 

Account: Parent Account: Account NameNOT EQUAL TO
