Can a Formula Field Referencing a Parent Trigger a WFR

Hi everyone,

Can a formula field referencing a parent trigger a workflow rule with the criteria ISCHANGED(formula field) without having to open the record and save it?

I'm thinking no, that the child record will have to be updated but thought I would ask. Does anyone have a simple workaround not involving triggers?

Thank you! I'm learning A TON on these boards!

The formula fields are only set / modified wehn they are "seen".

So if a parent is updated, the child formula field is not updated until the record is viewed, or something useing the formula call for it.

I do not believe that a formula field on the trigger record will cause the trigger to fire again either but a roll-up summary would.
