Field label is not showing correctly on page layout, as it has been mentioned within the field....

Does anyone have more insight on the below topic:
-- "Amount" field (Standard field) on opportunity has label name "Amount" but it shows as "Asset" on Opportunity detail page. Similarly "Type" field (Standard field) label shows as "Transition Type" on Opportunity detail page. Why?

It sounds like you may have overwritten label values.

If you go to: Setup, Customize, Tab Names and Labels, Rename Tabs and Labels. Then click on the object you want to edit.

The first screen will be the label for the object.

Click Next.

The Standard Fields will be displayed with their label values.

If they are overwritten, you can blank them out and they will revert back to their default values.

I just checked in my dev instance. It shows as Amount and Type itself.
