Creating Custom Buttons instead of Custom Links?

Hi,  I have a requirement to add a custom button to a salesforce.com page layout.  I have added custom links before. Is there also an option to add a "Custom Button" as opposed to a custom link? I can't find such an option but I guess one must exist.

Thanks!

Hi,

we can add custom button to all objects except  "User" page layouts. You will find an option as "custom button" on the page layout below the "Fields" option.

Custom buttons can be placed along with the standard button i.e. along with the Edit, Delete buttons on the detail page.

But if you want a button on the inner section, for some reason, where you have the custom link, you need to create a VF page with a custom button and place it on the layout.

First option is advisable.
