record type layout

i have created few record types for my custom object. i have made layouts also for it and assgned it to the record type.

 still on execution i am not getting the layout.

what should i do for it.

when you are creating New record from the custom object tab, are you able to see the Record Type Selection Page.

If yes then it should shows the page you assigned for the selected record type.

 

If you are unable to see the Record Type Selection screen before Standard New Record page then first you have to add the layouts for the User Profile.
