LAMCORP Trigger - when the "submit for approval" button is pressed automatically saves the record first

Does anyone have any idea how to create a trigger that will save a record upon (& before) the "submit for approval" is pressed?

At the point where the Submit For Approval button has been clicked, the record has already been saved. I believe you have some sort of terminology mixup going on here, or you may simply not understand what you're asking. Could you elaborate on your exact issue?
