Look up on command button

    Is it possible to call a look up window on a command button or command link click.
    Can that be a visual force page created by me or atleast a standard object????

Yes, your command link can direct the user to another visualforce page, i believe you set target="" to achieve the popup.

target The name of the frame where the resource retrieved by this command link should be displayed. Possible values for this attribute include "_blank", "_parent", "_self", and "_top". You can also specify your own target names by assigning a value to the name attribute of a desired destination.

I tried it with commandlink also but its not redirecting me on that page nor opening any pop window.
 
please guide and also show some codding for it if possible
