How do I sync contacts?

How do I sync contacts from Outlook to contacts in Salesforce? I keep trying but the contacts in outlook do not show up in Salesforce.  I cannot mark as sync either because an error comes up.

Hi SaraBeth,

 

Have you checked your sync permissions? In Outlook, go to Tools < Salesforce Options.

 

At the top where it says 'Synchronization Settings', is the checkbox 'Synchronize Data with Salesforce' checked off?

 

In addition, check your 'Data Movement' drop down menu. If it is not set to 'Synchronize with Salesforce', your Contacts won't sync over either.
