{! $ObjectType.x.fields} no longer supported?

Hi,
 
In Winter '09 is the {! $ObjectType.Account.fields.name.label} syntax no longer supported (even though it is still in VF docs)?
 
This syntax in some of my pages caused an internal server error, and then trying to build them wouldn't work ("invalid field 'fields' for SObject 'x')
 
Is there an alternative syntax?

There has been no change to this functionality in Winter '09 and I just verified that things are working fine on test.salesforce.com using the exact page formula you included below. Can you post the source for your entire page please?

Please note that Salesforce.com never knowingly removes functionality in an incompatible way - we either support it forever, auto ipgrade, or follow a published deprecation process that spans multiple releases.
