Setter of selectList not invoked in Sandbox

I'm developing in Sandbox environment. I came to understand that setter method of selectList won't be invoked at any time. Would you please help me to find a way to get Setter invoked?

Where did you get this information from?  I'm not aware of any reason why setters wouldn't be invoked in a sandbox.
