Performance: Components vs Templates

Are there performance differences between using components vs templates?

Erm.... i was under the impression that Components are reusable component which are helpful to achieve a certain functionality.

 

Create a reusable component and use it on your VF pages.

 

While template is used to expose Sites on VF. Build a template and the page composites itself to give consistent look and feel to sites.

 

If this is true, there is no comparision between the two... its like comparing a mixer with a vaccum cleaner...not a healthy comparision, is it??

 

Was I wrong??

 

Experts...any comment?

Well,

I agree that both the things have their own defined usage, but still i would like to know, how differently does the Interpretor works with both these?

My question is not around the comparison, but rather around the way the page is loaded from the server for each of these!
