Session variable in apex and visualforce

Is there any session variable in SFDC and if I want to upload and download any value in it or from it?

 

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Are you talking about salesforce session id.

not session id but  session variable where we can get and post several vaiables in a session and can get and set them in any page we like!!!..normal web programming feature!!

Session id can be obtained for the $api variable which are accessible on VFPage too
