How do i merge contact record by using trigger,i.e already existing record

Are you looking to determine that a record is a duplicate and thus merge at the point of insertion?  I'm pretty sure that in the current version of the API you can't do that - you'd essentially be trying to delete a record as soon as it is inserted.  

 

Have you identified the criteria for deciding that a record is a duplicate?

 

My preference is to provide a mechanism for users to search for a contact before creating, rather than letting them go through the create process and whipping the contact out from underneath them.
