Could anyone please explain about "rendered", "reRender" and "renderAs" in real time environment

Could anyone please explain about "rendered", "reRender" and "renderAs" in real time environment.

 

I have gone through pdfs and did not get it very clearly with these significance.

 

Like-

1- why we use these.

2- when we use these.

3-how ro use these.

render – It works like “display” property of CSS. Used to show or hide element.
rerender – After Ajax which component should be refreshed – available on commandlink, commandbutton, actionsupport etc.
renderas – render page as pdf, doc and excel.

 

If we want to show some Element on VF Page then we use render. 

We use rerender : For example if there is a checkbox on VF Page  and on selection of the checkbox u want u r page to display partial refresh use rerender.

Render as : if u would like to render the page as a pdf or doc or excel.
