Making Lead fields read only

Hi,

 

I am setting few fields of lead through URL hack. i want user should not able to edit these fields.

 

Complete thing is i want to make few fields on Lead standard page read only without using any profile or object settings.

Hello,

 

You can edit the page layout and the fields you want to make read only- in the edit page of page layout, go to field properties of that particualre field and check Read-only. This will make field read only.

if you dont want to use profile and pagelayouts, then hackway is to add a homepage component to sidebar and use javascript to control the fields using uniuqe id assigned to each field..
