Chatter in Customer Portal?

I read some older posts saying that Chatter is not enabled in the Customer Portal.  Can anyone confirm if this is still true or not?

That's still the case I'm afraid.  Spring 12 introduced chatter answers to the portal, but its not real chatter, rather a chatter type view of a question and some answers.
