Enable REST API for Professional accounts?

Hi

Is it possible to enable the REST API for other accounts than Enterprise and Unlimited?

Thanks,

Michael

I believe you can purchase an API add-on to Prof Edition.

Hi

I contacted a sales person on SalesForce and he confirmed that the API only works for the Enterprise and Unlimited editions.
I asked about the API plug-in and he said that it didn't exist, but it might have previosly.

I have communicated about this with Partner support before.  If you are an approved managed package on the AppExchange, you can access the REST API on Professional Ed orgs.  Other than that, I don't believe there's any other way to gain access.

Does anyone know how you become an approved managed package on the AppExchange?  We have developed an iPad application that uses the REST API and during the testing we realized that only customers with the Enterprise or Unlimited level account would be able to use our tool.  This seems very restrictive.    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you guys ever learn more about this?

Anything you might share with us about the API with non-enterprise accounts?

Hope the app is doing well :)
