CNAME

It has been 8 days since we adjusted the CNAME record and our domain is still not resolving. We keep getting the error "Salesforce.com can't validate the domain. The CNAME record may still be processing (which can take up to 24 hours), or the domain may not belong to you. Ensure the domain name www.example.com uses www.example.comlive.siteforce.com as its CNAME target and try again later."

Our IT department has the CNAME set up properly in the DNS.

Any suggestions? I have a case opened already but it's taking too long.

can you post what the actual CNAME is?

I'm getting ready to do this at a client.  Can you let me know what all you did?  I'd like to avoid issues like this.  Did you register the domain you are wanting to use?  This article may help:

http://developer.force.com/cookbook/recipe/registering-a-custom-domain-for-your-force-com-site

Notable:

Click Register My Force.com Domain. After you accept the Terms of Use and register your Force.com domain, the changes related to site creation are tracked in your organization's Setup Audit Trail and the Site History related list. It may take up to 48 hours for your registration to take effect.

You posted this on 4/4, it's been 21 days...are you still experiencing the issues?  If not, can you let me know what was done to resolve it?

Thanks.

I don't think that article applies - that's for a force.com subdomain such as anthony.force.com

I had to open a case with salesforce.com support. It took them about 10 days but they eventually resolved it. Unfortunately I do not know what they did to resolve it.

This may seem minor, but is your CNAME mapped to:

www.example.comlive.siteforce.com

or is it mapped to:

www.example.com.live.siteforce.com

?

Also, you might try doing an NSLOOKUP from your machine to your domain name and see where it directs you.

This was resolved by salesforce.com - we didn't make any changes.

Can we create a CNMAE for sub domain if so how to do it?

You set up CNAMEs in your own (or a hosted) DNS system, so it should be possible. It would just need to point to a separate site. A few examples are here:

I got answer for my question!!! I was trying in sandbx !!!
