Assign multiple profiles for a Customer Portal

Can multiple profiles be used on a Customer Portal, or can it only run under one profile?

 

I have a a portal setup with "Profile A" setup as the Default New User Profile;  I then have "Profile A" and "Profile B" in the Assigned Profile Lists, but if I change User Z's profile from Profile A to Profile B, I get insufficient priviliges in the portal.

It sounds like you have things setup correctly. If you click "Edit Profiles" in the Assigned Profiles related list, is Profile B active? If so, then likely your permissions issue has more to do with Profile B's settings than the portal configuration.

What type of portal are we talking about?
  • If it's a standard Salesforce customer portal, then possibly Profile B doesn't have access to tabs, objects, or records that it needs.
  • If it's a custom force.com site, possibly Profile B needs access to visualforce pages, etc.
