Asset's Record Type

Hi

I'm stuck with Asset's record type and appreciate some help.

I was planning to add different record types to assets but then I noticed there is no such option.

Any ideas how to overcome this?

Is there any workaround?

Does someone know why Record Types are not possible for Assets?

Many thanks

You can't "overcome" this; assets are not meant to be full-blown records, simply a detail note on an account. This feature is nearly identical to Opportunity Line Items, Campaign Members, or Contact Roles, which also do not have record types, since they are just details about the record. However, there is a workaround: Visualforce. Using Visualforce and some custom fields, you could override the new, edit, and view pages to simulate record types. Of course, no drag-and-drop editing of the layouts and all the other limitations of Visualforce, but it's there if you want it.
