Schema Builder Field Level Security

Hi there. 

In spring '12 release we can create custum objects and fields in Schema Builder.

What are the default security rules (field level security) that apply to the created field. . What settings can influence those security rules.

By simply adding a field using the schema builder then going to the object to set field level security, it is apparent that no access to the field has been set. everything is unchecked

But my second question was that whether those defaults be changed or not, when you change any other security policies (like OWD, profiles etc.,)
