Default Value?

In a text field is possible to set up a default value so that when a new record is the field is auto populated.  But the user can over ride it if they wish?

This functionality is planned for a future release.

Today you could create a weblink that would create a new record and fill in the record with a default value by passing in the right querystring params

Yes, but you have to "view source" or 'view page info' on and edit page for each object to see the list of names to use in your name=value pairs.
