Showing Chatter in a Console

I am using a Console to display opportunities. When I click on one of the opportunities you see everything except the Chatter. How can I bring up the Chatter feed

I think we could create a somewhat trivial VF page (using code from the combo pack) which displays the feed for a single object, and include that VF page as a section in the Opportunity Layout.  Then that would appear in the Opportunity detail in the Console view.   It wouldn't be a nice sidebar sort of view, but perhaps that's not so important?

I don't think sidebar matters as long as it works roughly the same was viewing chatter through a opportunity (outside of console).

 

SF have confirmed with me that chatter is not supposed to work within console and basically to request as a feature. Is console a legacy component that isn't being updated anymore? I can't see why they would release chatter but not integrate with console.
