Force.com Stand alone IDE Vs Eclipse

I just started learning Force.com.  I read that there are two versions for IDE - 1) force.com IDE stand-alone and 2) force.com plug-in for Eclipse.

I could install Eclipse and the force.com plug-in.

How to install force.com IDE stand alone version?

Please help.

I believe the standalone is not being supported anymore....as of summer 13.  Due to Salesforce wanting to people to centralize development at the Developer Console....so they can focus on improving that and having greater potential.

Keep in mind the standalone is basically a slimmed down version of eclipse.  So eclipse with the plug-in is just as good....actually better in my opinion...since you have more options to develop other items if needed.

Hi ,

You can browse through the Tools Sections to see what all tools are available.

https://developer.salesforce.com/page/Tools

As mentioned above - it is now Recommended to use the Official Salesforce Browser based Tool or development which is our Developer Console.
