Why do we validate change sets?

Just a quick Question thats bugging me.

What is the importance of Validating a Change set? It seems that if we atempt to deploy off the bat it will either fail or not. Is there  any value in actually validating for errrors before Deploying?

What is the advantage?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Validating a change set would help to identify errors. This is primarly helpful when you are planning to deploy the changes on a scheduled time and you want to make sure that there are not interruptions while deploying the changes. Most of the organizations deploy the changes during off production hours, in such scenarios any error during deployment would cost further more delay and rescheduling the deployment. To avoid such things, the change sets are validated before hand.

Hope this answers your question.
