Opportunity Owner the only person able to do an Opportunity Split?

Hi ,
i need a small information regarding Opportunity Split

Why is the Opportunity Owner the only person able to do an Opportunity Split?. A user higher in the Opportunity owner's hierarchy can change most other parameters (Sales Credit, Owner, Team Members, Stage, Amounts etc.) - why not be able to do an Opportunity Split?. Doesn't make sense...

Opp Splits are normally done for Sales/Marketting team members who are part of Opp team mostly. So, they can do split for them selves and it is ofcourse should only be allowed to Owner. BUT if you have requirement for other Users then you can write a trigger on those object to play with OpportunitySplit standard object.

Hi Rajesh,

As per the help on Opportunity Spit on Salesforce :To view and edit splits, you must be the opportunity owner or above in the organization hierarchy and have access to the split fields.

Please check the field permissions for the split fields for  a user higher in the Opportunity owner's hierarchy.

+1 to Balaji Bondar, As per the below article Oppty split can be done not just by owner but anyone above him/her in the role hierarchy with appropriate permissions
