to track sales without opportunity

hi since the user case cannot use "opporunity", can I do this way to track sales(sales, and sample orders)?

thru existing Product Object - add additional fields "as of date", " quanlity", "total cost", and a pick list shown "sample as Yes or No"

or if that's the usually how we do, can advise the proper way (in details)? Thanks to all...

Hi Aileen,

If you are using a product only once then you can add these fields on product itself.
But consider if you are using the same product in 2 or more different contexts then your quantity, dat, toatal cose will change.

You can add field like Sample (yes/no picklist) on product.

Thanks,
