Not sure if this is the right place to post this.

We saw this error - not sure what it means - same text, slightly different errors each time

I'm not sure if it is related, we also getting this error on about 3% of email for the last week:
421 4.4.0 [internal] no MXs for this domain could be reached at this time

As I've just learnt from another user in the community (Cory Cowgill) this is called a GACK: https://developer.salesforce.com/blogs/engineering/2015/02/gack.html

If you contact customer support, quoting your error numbers, then they'll be able to pull their logs for that error and give you a lot more information.
