Tom Fanning Feature request: complete configuration snapshot
I was going to title this post "Metadata API: Generate complete package.xml" but actually it's more appropriate to simply ask for a feature request - a simple, straightforward, consistent method to grab a snapshot of the complete configuration of a Salesforce instance, that doesn't require maintenance / manual intervention over time.
The reason for this request is the crazy amount of code to write / test / troubleshoot, documentation to read / understand to get a comprehensive and dynamically generated package.xml.
I just want EVERYTHING.
